20150901 Red-backed Shrike Blakeney Point

Red-backed Shrike.
Brick red tailed bird with barring on scaps and mantle.
Found on The Hood by Neville and myself. 8 Wheatear and 1 Phyllosc that got away, the only other migrant passerines.
2 Common Scoter on sea, Purple Sand and Little Stint fly byes West.

20150703 Shorty on Shed

Shorty on  Shed.
Mr &Mrs RF Porter with Artists Beverley and Tom.
In response to the Cley15's installations on the beach The Warden and Manager thought that something should be done to spruce up the CP Shed.

Following an excellently successful concert and fly by at Blickling Hall the world maestro lead violinist of Sinfonia Viva and wife take a well earned break on the reserve.
 

Mother Dear, Jimbo and Pip visit Shorty on Shed whilst Ben is manning the CP.

20150523 NWT Holme Dunes Photography Class

Sedge Warbler.
Male in song from Hawthorn blossom, the first of today's subjects.
Composition with the flowers is required.
Avocet pair.

Luckly an overcast day so sunlight not against us from the hides which all face South at Holme.

Male as orange spots restricted on forewing.
One of the Blues... Blues tones in body.

Bird had moved its head during sequence of 4 shots, camera selected one position.
Detail is captured in white and dark brown plumage. Expose on highlights and adjust level back in photoshop.
Sturation moved +20 to retrieve colour.
Camera preset to ISO200 in HDR1.

20150303 Iceland Gull 1st winter Weybourne

Iceland Gull.
1st winter bird following the plough in fields East of Weybourne.
Bill very muddied along cutting edges and most of lower mandible.

Underwing appears mainly pale with faint smudging against strong sunlight.

20150209 Black Redstart

Garganey.
1st winter male out on Pope's Marsh from East Bank, 9th Feb. 2800mm and crop.
The bird was found last Wenesday afternoon
the record being  rubbished by the vols on duty when mentioned by a sceptical BFC,
disgraceful behaviour all round.
