20141121 Woodcock fence incident. Little Grebe. NWT Cley.

Little Grebe. Up to 10 birds wintering on the Main Drain.

Woodcock.
Had flown into fence on beach side of the Eye Field with revolutionary outcome.
Adult bird, as thin terminal bar on primary coverts and tail feather tipped silvery
white on underside.


Woodcock feathers. Lt to Rt.
 2 primary, upper and underside with hard and narrow outer web.
 Secondary, almost equal webs. 2 small Alula feathers.
3 tail feathers with almost all black inner webs, upper and 2 undersides with silvery white tips.
1st Woodcock painting.
